FREE Google Business Profile (GBP) Health Audit and Suspension Risk Tool

GBP Health Audit is a free tool that scores your Google Business Profile two ways: how well it’s optimized to rank, and how likely it is to get suspended. Paste your Google Maps link, answer a short guided checklist, and get both scores plus a prioritized fix list in about two minutes. No account, no email, no credit card.

Most local SEO audits only tell you what to add. This one also tells you what could get your listing pulled — the name keyword-stuffing, virtual-office addresses, review-incentive language, and entity-verification gaps that trigger Google suspensions and reinstatement denials.

  • Optimization Score (0–100) — every ranking-relevant field on your profile, weighted by real-world impact.
  • Suspension Risk (Low / Moderate / High / Critical) — graded against Google’s own Business Profile guidelines and the patterns we see in actual reinstatement casework.
  • A prioritized action list — what to fix first, and why it matters.

Run your audit below — it takes about two minutes.

What the Google Business Profile audit checks

The audit walks your profile through the checks that actually move rankings and the ones that actually get listings suspended:

  • Business name compliance — keyword stuffing, taglines, ALL CAPS, embedded phone numbers or URLs, and unearned suffixes. Name violations are the single most common cause of hard suspensions.
  • Address & business type — PO boxes, coworking and virtual-office addresses, mail-drop patterns, and whether your address type matches how you actually operate (storefront vs. service area).
  • Categories — primary category fit and whether you’re leaving relevant secondary categories on the table.
  • Profile completeness — description, hours, services, attributes, products, website, and the fields most profiles skip.
  • Reviews — volume, velocity, owner-response rate, and review-incentive language (“leave a review, get a discount”) that violates Google’s policy.
  • Review-velocity anomalies — bursts of reviews arriving far faster than your own historical pace, measured against your baseline rather than an arbitrary threshold.
  • Photos, posts & engagement — how current and how active your profile actually looks to Google.
  • NAP consistency — whether the name, address, and phone on your website match what’s on your listing.
  • Entity & legitimacy verification — Secretary of State registration, trade licensing, and BBB presence. These are exactly what Google asks for when you appeal a suspension, and the businesses that lose appeals are usually the ones that can’t produce them.
  • Duplicate listings — other profiles competing with your own for the same business.
  • High-risk verticals — extra checks for the categories Google polices hardest, including a dedicated cannabis and medical marijuana addendum.

How it works

  1. Find your listing. Paste a Google Maps link, a share link, a CID, or just search by business name and city.
  2. Confirm what’s there. The tool pulls what it can from your public listing and your own website, then asks you to confirm or correct anything it can’t see from the outside.
  3. Get your report. Two scores, the reasoning behind each, and a prioritized fix list you can copy, print, or save as a PDF.

Who this is for

Local business owners who want to know why they aren’t showing up in the map pack. Multi-location brands auditing a portfolio of listings. Agencies and consultants running a fast, defensible health check before taking on a client. And anyone who has already been suspended and needs to know what to fix before filing a reinstatement appeal.

How the scoring works

The optimization score weights each factor by its relative importance in the Whitespark Local Search Ranking Factors report — an industry survey of local SEO practitioners — rather than treating every field as equally important.

The suspension-risk score is built from two sources: Google’s published Business Profile representation guidelines, and the suspension and denial patterns documented in our own reinstatement casework. Where the tool is guessing, it says so and lets you correct it. Where it can’t check something from a public listing — prior suspension history, service-area radius, and other owner-dashboard-only data — it tells you that too, instead of quietly scoring around it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Google Business Profile audit really free?

Yes. It’s free, there’s no signup, and there’s no email gate. Run it as many times as you want.

Do I need to log in to my Google account?

No. The audit works from your public listing, so you never sign in and never grant access to your Business Profile account.

How long does the audit take?

About two minutes for most profiles.

What is a Google Business Profile suspension?

A suspension is when Google removes your business listing from Search and Maps for violating its Business Profile guidelines. Suspensions are often triggered by a non-compliant business name, an ineligible address such as a virtual office or mail drop, a mismatch between your listing and your verifiable business details, or an edit to a profile Google already considers risky. A suspended profile disappears from local results entirely until it’s reinstated.

Can this tool tell me if my profile is already suspended?

It checks Google’s own live status signal for your listing, which is the clearest outside indicator that something is wrong. It’s a strong signal, not a guarantee — the definitive answer is in your Business Profile dashboard.

What’s the most common reason profiles get suspended?

Business name violations — adding keywords, locations, or taglines to a name that isn’t your real-world business name. Address problems are a close second, especially virtual offices, coworking spaces, and mail drops.

Does the tool store my business data?

No. Your answers stay in your browser and are used only to generate your report on the page.

What do I do with my results?

Work the prioritized fix list from the top down. Suspension-risk items come first — a suspended profile ranks nowhere — then the optimization items with the highest weight. If your report flags a High or Critical suspension risk, gather your entity-verification documents before you touch anything else on the listing.
