Google My Business Spam Reporting – Dallas Fort Worth Fake Garage Door Listings

Ben Fisher · January 9, 2021 ·

Fighting Dallas Fort Worth Garage Door Fake Listings
A merchant with five storefronts is buried by fake lead generation garage door listings in the hometown of the largest lead generation company in the industry.

The Problem: If you are not familiar with the garage door industry, it’s worth knowing that there are tons of fake garage door listings all over the country. In particular, most major metros with a high population density get hit the worst with lead generation companies – they flood the suburbs and every zip code with multiple fake GMB profiles. They take the leads they can handle and sell the rest. This causes real merchants to not even have a chance at getting business, putting many out of business.

Step One: Look at the problem and come up with a plan. We knew in this metro area that a one-and-done approach would not work. While we had to start with a scorched earth mentality because we knew that in the long run, we needed to continue to do sweeps to make it not a very cost efficient marketing tactic for the bad actor doing the fake listings.

Step Two: Go scorched earth with spam reporting. Our initial sweep was pretty large, around five hundred listings. Thirty days later we came out with 100% success.

Step Three: We put up a sustained monthly spam reporting attack of one hundred listings.

The Result: After step two, the merchant saw a 300% rise in business. This kept our client in the top three of the map pack consistently.

The Testimonial: https://goo.gl/maps/rPY1vrEzFLgHARBc9  “Today I can definitely say that our best SEO investment was working with Ben Fisher and Steady Demand to remove more than 1,200 SPAM listings – and the fight is still on! Yes, I will say it again – more than 1,200 SPAM listings in one metro in less than a year. As a business owner in the service industry, we never realized how much GMB SPAM we had around us and how it was badly damaging our visibility on Google Maps and in the organic SEO search. After we started working with Ben and removed hundreds of SPAM listings, we almost tripled the amount of calls we were getting from our listing. In addition, our organic SEO improved a lot since then. Thank you Ben and Christine for doing an amazing job and breaking the record of removing more than 1,200 SPAM listings in less than 1 year!”
